Key points

  • Epoxy commissions need drawing between the layers of epoxy and paint, which gives depth.
  • Rosin and epoxy catch the light differently, so parts of the painting jump out.
  • Oils can be left out to keep working, but brushes go straight into oil.
  • A painting shirt is essential, because oil paint is very hard to wash out.

Thank you people real Buzzy bro we were trying to stream to Twitch today at 8pm to do a bit of a session you know what wouldn't let my phone do it what's up with that it's wild I was upset about it so we just did Reddit and that's where I've been on Reddit a lot which I'm sorry about Zach I missed you oh well yeah I know right I make all these Grand promises and I just don't deliver it's a shocker the Corona studio to the giant Corona better behind me but it's not a Corona studio or a new studio it's the same garage so yeah it's a bit where did you get back to the U.S ah when I get back from the US oh good question 15th wait 15.

Yeah so I've been home for about half a month now it's like screwed up and there's one thing better than New Zealand food Australian food that stuff is good where did you steal the car I'm actually still like my father did he called trolley right my father a guy was using it to cover a Woody and anyway dad said Dad's I would be a tarp you know like that and he's like yeah that's fine so the girl family ends up with his giant Banner which naturally we put to the wall of our [ __ ] and could be happy with it and so we used to have a little bottle rack over here on it that we'd have and then we had what else are we on I need to clean actually but it's good it's great video die can still get audio now I reckon that's I've been having some trouble with twitch I will test drive today just out in the sun did

Some painting and then thought oh it's all working came back tonight nothing did nada I'd paint up the corona sign if they weren't yeah you're not wrong actually you're not wrong we should do that I haven't done it but I should do it you're right or I should contact them for sponsorship oh it'll be like a really loyal fan base it's huge humongous pretty sure it spans countries can you show us yeah his name is that the white tissue is anxiety it's like gonna get spaghetti stains it is going to get spaghetti stains it should be giving you anxiety but you know what this is a painting [ __ ] and I'm not even afraid it's gonna be fine what we do is we go to h m and get them for super cheap so it's like a five dollar shirt so that's being a I don't know I like it thank you see paint on Reddit what's the crowd they're like honestly Reddit crowd's

Pretty cool as it stays but like other days they'll just hear you to pieces there's no really Rhyme or Reason to it just some days you hit the spot and other days you do not so but look I like it if someone doesn't like you instead of just scrolling past they downvote your stuff and so especially when you just start a stream and you're on zero it teaches around like two one and then it goes up but so you don't get like you don't get total likes you get an aggregate of what people think and I've come to learn some people do not like my art so we never get that people still streaming on Reddit though wild west of streaming yeah it really is yeah but like in the day people are on there just scrolling through stuff above and down boat having a good time some people find it real hard apparently like they get like a little bit upset about it but

I wasn't too worried and other times you'll just get showered with accolades so that's cool that's what's really but more often not you're just chill in there just like right now painting a couple of people yarning that's all good all right just remember bikini probably get more views yeah probably but yeah it's all good so good the reels Go real hard on Instagram that'd been fun it's been pretty chill did you start the image up I know we've just started doing an upside down and it's like Parts would be missing the whole time Zach so I figured we'd come into it and as soon as we rotated the other way up I immediately noticed a whole bunch of tones and shadows because I've been like ignoring the whole time so really going to address that sure just stick to this aside not perfect and it's fine hold on fix I like it how it warms you it's handy hey confetti how you doing the last

Stuff I saw you was just you pouring res on your canvases yeah I was and blowtorch yeah so you're gonna love this you might not I hope you do we've been doing a really Buzzy thing where we'll be buying liquid glass which is like a resin and what we do is it's like an epoxy so you pour over the sips of the painting and it hardens and it turns into like a halfway between a plastic and a glass over decades it will yellow if you leave it in direct sunlight but it typically should last indoors 100 years forever so what you do with it rather than doing a finished coat with it is you put it on the artwork so you spread this liquid glass on top of the artwork and for a messy artist like me who needs a lot of texture in the paint this could be a fresh start so I can actually have all my current textures and all my stuff

Going on and now there's a giant layer of perfect flat surface now on top of it and so I can start painting on that and so what you do that about three or four times you end up with these layering effects it's heavy as hell because you're not with a super language about five ten mil thick on top of the picture of just straight stuff and so and what happens is on different angles you can see through all the layers so you can like on different angles you can actually see rather than five layers on top of each other mixed together you see the depth of all the layers they're actually Disconnected by this layer of epoxy so that's actually no wonder that's not making shoes I've got a picture the right way up so that's been really fun the only problem is the epoxy is real nasty in terms of fumes so you I get all the paintings up to the right level and

Then epoxy everything close down the room we'll leave the doors open when it's open breathe and then just leave it for like three or four days and then come back once all fumes are gone go from there yeah I've been seeing people create third paintings yeah yo a lot of people it was actually I had no idea you could do it like that the guy was buying the rosenov was like oh you like to paint like that let me recommend something for you and you just this guy no Joe spent Maybe 45 minutes hour 15 on the phone with me yakking about the methods and the perks and how to use liquid glass he's like you know what I haven't showed me everything you've got to come up to Auckland you've got to come see it for yourself I'll do some classes with you or whatever hadn't bought anything off him yet hadn't bought a thing but you know what I have now spent about

3 000 bucks with the guy I'm gonna spend more and you know what the gesture of spending 45 minutes was an obscene amount of time with a stranger on the phone to explain how to use a product like just because you're passionate about this product I'm not saying anyone should do it but in this case that went a long way so I was lucky I ran into that guy Super Lucky but yeah nasty stuff so pop a mask and everything that's important I can't quite make up that emoji from confetti Yeti well he needed yeah that's true yeah he couldn't see it but I did a lot of nodding I'd look loud enough so is that I was just so stoked like man what a guy thank you oh so this one's actually already had a layer on it's just a waving Emoji robot face unless of course I was I really wanted someone to tell me something new to try so he told me

About it the pitch was right that's ready to go a wavy emoji thank you bucks is a lot to invest in these let me sell these paintings are no probably more like honestly I'm exaggerating more like 1.7 000 but the point still stands oh I want to buy some more we've sold a few of these there sold a few about actual changed hands paintings maybe 304 and then commissions on the go right now 12. which is nuts we're falling behind actually and then I've got one who got three in transit right now so three was in transit they're getting boxed and prepared to actually send and a big come on they were excited about is going to New York and she's been waiting for ages for it I'm an absolute shocker and she's been so patient with me and I told her that and she says take as long as you need and I'm like no let's take him way too long but she's the

Lady we painted Beethoven for amazing lady actually and I hope she loves the painting I really do if she doesn't love it I will take it back I'll buy it often because I like Beethoven yeah but because they're trailer thought gone forever and let's go do you think because oh that's right the commissions aren't like because there needs to be a lot of drawing between the layers of epoxy and the layers of paint and its oil paint so the three-week dry time of paint before epoxy there's months to go with these things so not the one that's going to New York that one's really now but it took months because I was like man I want to pour this on to what I want to do this I want to do that but it's like who wait for the paint to dry it'll be permanent air bubbles trapped up the surface and it's all gone so that's to be awarded quicker so that's different but

A lot of them are saying like you know just keep me updated basically and they were also working on ways to speed up the process all right so take your time gives the artist time to gestate yeah and the person buying it too to be like actually what was that I changed my mind I don't want one I've had that a few times but luckily I had to start the paintings here I've been close I didn't started oh my God that's why you take 50 discount before starting at deposit for Sterling yeah it's true I don't do that but I should so this one's in desperate need of a another layer of epoxy is that hitting the other textures and it becomes all starts dragging across them sometimes it looks cool other times yeah thank you oh well you know you can sell don't sell your time and effort and material sure we sort of do at the moment I'd like to see some more
