Key points

  • Texture is kept for the last layer, so the earlier layers still show their influence underneath.
  • No guidelines or measuring, so the proportions are never quite right, and that is the point.
  • Wild colours can still hold up: photograph a painting in black and white and the tones should read correctly.
  • Paint thick outdoors where possible, so the fumes dissipate.

Sorry for canceling yesterday's stream being terribly late to today's stream guys I drive for nine hours backwards and forwards which was amazing so we're here that's what matters I promise that's this like moving around flowers three so okay just the one time mate so this is like we were yelling about yesterday this is the third layer and then in between are those liquid glass coats so like you can't quite see it but from my angles I can see through the paint which is pretty exciting or at least I'm excited about it so that's fun so I believe you whistles nice to see you moved discount hey I have not fixed his eyes I like his eyes discount including plants more seeds of doubt possibly I like having those zany little paintings lying around though and like honestly if we start nitpicking the eyes aren't even my least favorite part I don't like the nose I like the mouth and the cheeks but all of it

Together it's offensively pretty I like the hat the most I think that has done well I like it you look offensively pretty nothing matches if you look offensively pretty nothing matches but you can keep the hat on the hat one yeah okay when I was reading it like quotation marks I thought it was a quote and so I was like reading it like an artist had written something that would be offensively pretty you look offensively pretty nothing matches but you can keep that's a in fact I can't play it for you right now because copyright music but I can listen so you can leave your head on which would be a thrill for me I'm excited for this I like joe crocker have a little faith in me or I'll leave your head on that's right now we're doing detail at the moment zach detailed things like a little bit of a shimmy but unfortunately we got to keep these brush strokes accurate we can

Get them all over the show when it comes to bigger pictures how's perspective on the sky is he all good like I'm pretty happy with him I need to put some more work into it here but the rest of it I reckon it's pretty good to leave but the nose and eyes and mouth and everything's just slightly out but is it enough to care you tell me audition for magic mite xxxl I am an xxl so I'm 1x I've been there when I went to mexico I couldn't find I went to mexico recently I couldn't find a single pair of underwear that would fit me because all the mexicans were so small no one wears double xl and even their excel is miniature I'm like how do you live like this are all of you actually they're small this is outrageous into four different shops go figure now I need size so not a break ah oh yeah that part it's like two times darker

Than a shiny middle forehead I see what you're saying yeah I see that actually I see what's happening there's a series of strokes paintbrush strokes the light's catching them on that angle and what it's making happen is it's illuminating them and those ones are falling back so you've got two different colors and two different hues so it's like these are orangey but maybe it does cave no I think the lights catch you funny yes okay so that orange patch definitely there but this part here is the same color as the rest of it the brush strokes just charge off a different direction but I'll check it outside in the sun tomorrow because tomorrow in the sun I got three words I got three just say he was dropped as a baby yes we could do that we couldn't do that let's take a leap out of your book and just charging off on pieces which I'm inclined to think you're on the right track with

Zach I mean smash these paintings out and move on picture wild here is a little bit solid ah mmm yes that's working well we'll add some rice bran oil to the paint and it's going way better good so it will be a fun day decides he wants to join in yeah you so do so me change this one needs a there's a bit much texture on it if I have a gold I'm not gonna beat the texture and the brush strokes won't be unique I'm affected by the ones that leave too much this texture's too thick I'm gonna do this one the temptation's there ah I see the canvas here we go ah yes I have but I just prefer to leave it there because I like it's gonna sound weird I like the textures I hate painting over it so I prefer I want you to be able to see the lumps on the canvas so when I put the liquid glass over the

Top I simply get the lumps if I lose the texture so that's just what I like I'll leave the texture on the last layer though so that way you can still see the texture coming out but all of the previous layers have affected that layer that's to go up but I'm wouldn't jinx that but in all honesty you don't get a whole lot of textures with oil paints just so last checks guys this now is my undivided attention so me that's 30 seconds poor people trapped inside your phone they're apologizing zach I said look sitting here texting when zack's expecting me to be painting locked on a paint and then yeah so they've come up with a humble apology that's saying sorry so I can respect that tweezers ironic in this day and age of technology that you have it's true that's true I should just send audio messages but the problem is if I want to say something stupid or out of context then

You've got to have these disconnected ridiculous comments the whole time maybe you're into that in fact that's what all the comments are we're using a fancy software at the moment I say fancy software it's just a browser thing and it streams live to twitch and youtube at the same time last first stream on it for like what eight months forever was yesterday this one's today youtube's going hard pretty fun actually no one comments or anything you get tons of subscribers and watches and plus you can upload reels on youtube I know you don't have reels but it's pretty cool restring that's exactly what we're using yeah it's simple just turn it on push go you're done I do misread it a little bit it's really hard the thing about rid of it was really cool is that you just randomly start treatment and then all of a sudden you have 10 000 12 000 people watching and that was pretty fun but think twitch is

Easy to use the only problem with twitch is I can't play my copyright music so you've got some bleep looks coming out of my ue boom and I'm listening to the chain by fleetwood mac I don't think that's fair I think you should be allowed to listen to the chain the copywriter's copyright I have got a guy though I have told him you feel the chill oh yeah fair enough see that's so I've got a guy and I said look I need you to figure out how to give me a music license because we do use licenses for stores I said just give me a license I don't you know and he said actually you might find people will prefer the chill beats and you can put an airpod and listen to your stuff and everyone will be happy and you confirm that so I believe he was wrong now listen to miley cyrus you're missing the answer so you see here I'm not trying

To clip with these and spin around and all sorts of stuff and it is really clever which is actually the detail less clunky and surprisingly effective use plastic white we use cheap blades from pop shops walk in there every now and again buy a bunch and you're awake lately we haven't there's been a bunch of places on obsolete in the restaurant so a lot of these not these ones in particular one of these plates which is cool my me all right no and you're looking to dry there's a real temptation here to actually add a bunch of liquid glass to some of these surfaces but apparently that's not all good so all we can the church so I'm gonna do this so all the rest oh we're good you so okay this canvas this titling zack it's a loose canvas this canvas is not a drum anymore apparently the camera should be like drum when you touch it's not this canvas there are those yes

You're correct and I learned that on youtube because one day I thought you know what the heck are those things for youtube did really good reason to have those library canvas didn't know that for five years they didn't teach me that in art school they never even mentioned it which is outrageous or was it not primed properly at the start that's why it's now ah not prime problem start that's the answer it's an off the shelf canvas we bought it for a cheap test one I started to like it a little bit I like this one the artwork on it's a bit rough but I like where it's at I like where it's going you can sort of see the sheet there yes I like it ah I went to fine art school it was all good and then I finished doing an art history degree in otago university but the most I've learned from painting has actually been from people have actually been around

And stuff actually arguably I like the most about painting when I wasn't actually painting it's not trying to be deep for anything it was just a lot of I learned about different techniques and whatnot actually came from commercial work like concept work like big projects painting buildings varnishing stuff that sort of stuff and then there was just this I don't know it's just this release to doing big stuff but with paint that doesn't have any purpose or place you know you're just throwing it around I think this will try and thicken it up yeah we'll tighten up a wee bit although I do like the craziness of pain you know it's true ah is an ongoing life list of techniques and methods are evolving so quickly these days you're so deep zach you are right though mission situation there's a guy who actually wants his painting but I was like don't I'm not sure you were actually here when we started this one's act this

Is the one from this is the one from like going christchurch when we were building on like 720p and off the laptop and the only difference is now is that we're home we're in a gopro so the definition went up nothing else changed I don't know my thoughts deep the rest of me is a shallow layer nice descriptive and fitting the environment as well resin we're using that so well done now he can wait I say it needs more work like guys you know what zach I might leave it there and like turn into postcards and every couple of months I'll send you another postcard discount code shows up in your mailbox do you speaking of do you put your onto do you print it and give it out like yeah do you make your own difference is what I'm trying to say so just like a million units of clint eastwood's face with the eyes done properly fantastic my favorite gallery in the world
