Part 1 of 8

Good day team. Welcome back and got a wonderful little bit of shade here. So, thank you for joining me in what's going to be today's studio. And today we're doing the second coat. Now, we started this one again. I've been doing a lot of resetting over and over, but we're starting this one again. It's two retrievers. One, two. And although two dogs the subject matter, most importantly in this work, the water and the reflections make up 80% of it. So that's where we're going to spend predominantly most of our time. We'll see how we go. Now, I've chosen a shady spot. So, it's possible that.

As things go on, might get a wee bit cold. If it does, I have a plan. But for now, we got our handy dandy disposable plates, our handy dandy disposable gloves, and we're going to make some art happen. That is the plan. Now, excuse me if my voice trails off at any point. I've only just got the thing back, so we're going to not try and push it too hard if we can help it. It's funny. Talk about a all sorts of little complications, but we're here today, so that's fun. And I've got absolutely stacks of paint and there's a lot to be.

Done on this one. Still still haven't completely finished painting the shed. You can see it in the background there. Part of the issue was I was excited to make it that atomic blue pallet and now I'm thinking the best options to go black. So that's where we're at. Yeah, I've been gone for a good while, so it's a pleasure to be back. Hope you enjoy this tree, too. It's a Someone call me out if I'm wrong, but I think that's a juniper tree. Good day. Welcome on everyone. I'll move this to the side so you can see it. It's a beautiful tree kind.

Of tree that when you take photos of your family, you do it in a tree like that. And it flowers wonderfully, too. So the whole thing just kind of spraws up, but we're in the shade of it today. So it's casting shade on this little patch and that's where we're going to be painting. So, I'm sorry that most your vision of said tree gets covered up, but hopefully we make a piece of work that justifies that covering. Hopefully. Now, I was going to start first thing in the morning at about 8. Well, first thing 8:00 a.m. And it was funny cuz I.

Came out here to get started and I had quite a unique problem. I didn't have a single brush. So, we had to call off the whole situation. Go on down to the art store, buy some brushes. Look, I'll tell you what, snake ringer. It's been a very, very cold winter and that's just been something we've had to navigate here. So, new home. Haven't dealt with a home that's it's on the edge of a gorge. And the challenge of that has been that at night as it pulls all the cold air off the farmland, it sort of funnels past the house. So, it.

Gets really cold. Now, this means you can plant unique plants, but it does mean that you're battling against nature sometimes. Where am I from? This is New Zealand. And that's funny that I've caught you on the last day of camp. That's Dilbert, welcome on in, Dilbert. Right. And this is our little Loki boy. Hey, Loki. Come here, buddy. Say hi to everyone. So, Loki, although he doesn't look it, he's only 10 months old or about 11 months old. He loves painting. He's a happy boy when it comes to painting. Hey JC, welcome on in. And he's a very very well- behaved Loki.

Boy. Now the reason he's called Loki wasn't because of the god of mischief. It was because he because he was a Loki puppy. But as time's gone on, Loki being the god of mischief. Pretty appropriate name. We always get that bot. I love that. A lot of people come on in here and say, "Is this AI?" Are there actually AI streams? Bots streaming? Is that a thing? I bet it is with AI. Probably is. Thanks, Dilbert. I bet it is. I bet it is. yes. This is one of those streams. I'm completely AI generated. Nothing you see in this stream is real. This.

Place isn't real. I'm not real. It's a robot that's speaking to you. No one in the world actually sounds like this. People say New Zealand has sound like this. Don't be silly. New Zealand's not a real place. It's fictional. Peter Jackson came up with it for his movie The Hobbit. Peter Jackson's actually from Pennsylvania or Wisconsin. He needed to come up with a place that sounded mystical for Lord of the Rings so it would get an American viewership. So he actually invented New Zealand. When you go on a flight here flat Earth theory style, it actually just rigs you around a to a part.

Of western Texas. If you hear a typewriter in the background, that kind of noise, that's a bird called a tui. And they are a special New Zealand bird. You might even see a few in the tree behind me. And the place I'm coming to you live from at the moment is a place called Tui Gorge. And Tui Gorge is known, you guessed it, for having a lot of tuies. Go figure. Now, the tuis make that little noise in amongst their song. They're a beautiful bird. Beautiful bird, but they do have quite an interesting bird song. Thanks, Michael. Can you guys hear those birds? Is the.

is the mic capturing that for you guys? S. This is a Kiwi accent. F. >> What's that sound? Is that because you gave the golden record that you can make sound? Is that legitimate? That is unbelievably funny. I was like, what is going on? That's not my regular country music playlist. Yeah, agree, Dilbert. So, When Shelby and I first had a look at this place, we fell in love with it before we'd even looked at the house. We fell in love with it because the Taiwanese cherries, all their beautiful pink flowers were just in abundance and tuies, which are hearing non-stop, had completely.

well engulfed the gorge. There was 38 of them in one tree. So, I was that close to making the mistake of ending up with Mars black, which would be a disaster because we want carbon black. Carbon black is the go-to. All right. This is the fun thing about these plates here. Completely disposable. So, you can put what you need into it. And then once you're finished with it, there's no clean up. Cuz usually you end up cleaning up acrylics with hot water. When you use hot water with acrylics, what happens? You get a strong smell of plastic. which is not good to inhale.

KK Noodle, you have not. So, it's lovely to have you back. And fashion carrots, I love your username. You're a gardener. Well, I'll tell you what, this place, Jackarandas, Taiwanese cherries, my personal favorite tree in the whole world. which is terrible because I actually cut a few of them out, because they're getting too crazy. are called Chilean fire trees. There's some old maples here. And then what else is there? Oh, some very old olives. This place predominantly has native bush, but apart from that, a whole lot of aged tall trees, which is great for lazy gardeners. such as myself. Get some black.
