Key points

  • “The good thing about these bottles though and what I love about them is a lot of paints have screw lids and you have to sort of wind them off.”
  • “Actually, if you mix tarpentine with oil paint and the way it flows over the surface, that's not dissimilar to how this paint behaves on the surface.”
  • “But if it's an acrylic painting or an oil painting like Van Goes with oil paintings, they tend to survive pretty well.”

Good day team. We've got a lovely boat picture outside today. I wish I had the mic. I looked all around the house, all around the studio, everywhere. Can't find it. Mike's missing. So that's where we're at. If anyone knows where Mike might be, heartbreaking, but anyway, they'll show up eventually. At the moment though, I think we've got rain coming in. So, there's a limited time schedule until possibly, you know, when you can smell rain a little bit. I [snorts] think I smell rain. I think it's coming in. And if it does come in, then we'll have to scadaddly rattly tattly because we got.

Lots of tech out here. So, hope you enjoy a nice moan lawn looking beautiful, looking clean. This is my I bought these stands for these iPads. And when I bought them, I thought that's perfect. And, you know, it kind of was, but the issue with them is it's too thin to hold it long ways. So, I'm always risking it for the biscuit that the iPad is not just going to fall to the ground. There we go. Lift it on up like this. It's not the best to have an iPad outside. A picture is much better, but the issue with a picture is you need a.

Printer. And I always print them out and then I lose them. And so you're constantly dealing with this with that effectively. And the iPad works great if it's overcast or if it's night time. Then the iPad really thrives with those screens. oh, sorry, Eric. not quite yet. But and boo, this one's not for sale. This one here is a commission, but you're right. It does look a little sad. And the reason it looks sad is we've used pastel pinks, which is not the most exciting pink, green and blue, which has these really melancholy feels to it. And then [clears throat] it's kind.

Of just washed out white. So yeah, fully respected sad right now. You wouldn't have been able to tell so much when it was in the studio. The lighting was different, but now we're going to add some energy and zest into it. Absolutely. Good day, Campbell from Canada. Campbell from Canada. [clears throat] Excuse me. I got a little like a be in my throat. So, I'm just navigating that at the moment. managing it just but a be in my throat. Nevertheless. Nevertheless. So, I'll just get this phone here connected to Wi-Fi. got this clever little technique that I'm going to try out with this phone.

Here. Now, out of 100% how satisfied are you with this painting, fat boy? You mean as a finished result right now or do you mean as a process that's ongoing process 80% closer to 95 finished result that sounds pessimistic but like that's just because I can [clears throat] like a parent to a child I can see all it can be. overall, yeah, 25% 25% satisfied with it. It's not done. doesn't have to be done, but in terms of being satisfied, satisfied is completion. I'm not satisfied with a finished result 20% of the way through the journey, right? So, I'm 20% satisfied.

Because we're 20% of the way through it. Maybe it is. is it's Antarctica. That makes sense. That makes perfect sense. sorry, T. I'm just getting this phone logged in cuz you're quite a long way back. So, if I can get this phone logged in, I can have the comments beside the artwork. is my clever little plan. It is very blue and we've got something very special to fix that with today. And it's not this. This is my grapefruit drink. Got a bunch of grapefruit. I'll show you where. Check this out. I'll just spin you around a little bit. There's my little grapefruit tree.

Absolutely laden in grapefruit. And picked some off it, blended them up in a neutroninja, and now I've got a bunch of grapefruit to eat. So, very fun to share that with you. This arrived in the mail this morning. Do you know what this is? Joe, you've been missed, too. Welcome back. this here. Oh, gross. It's trying to make me log in with a password. Who remembers passwords these days? Thank you very much. It looks different than the studio. It should look different than the studio. This is I'll try and log in with Google. Here we go. And I'll go for this one. This one.

And it'll look even better right now cuz it's overcast. So, you'll see proper colors. But because it's overcast and not a warm sun. Yeah, Caleb, that is a grapefruit tree. I'm very proud of my little grapefruit tree. hey Loki. Oh, it's asking for a password for that. I'm not going to be able to log in on this phone, am I? I wonder if I can just jump into the live without a No. Do you need a profile? These are the big questions. We're just not even going to bother. I tried that. He's logging into a bunch of stuff. It was a good idea, but.

that operation could take two minutes or two hours. Hello, birdie. Birdie, this has arrived in the mail. The most exciting color of all, titanium white. The second most exciting color, neutral gray. they do get more exciting, I swear. See, I told you. Neutral gray, 5% darker. We're really We're really busting out the big guns here. and then I've got Here we go. It gets I swear it gets more fun. Okay, here we go. Medium magenta. So that's like a fun saturated but pastely pink, ultramarine blue. Already a lot of that in there, but more can never hurt. Love this one. Personally, this.

Is like a more fun gray, like a gray yellow without being disgusting. This is un sorry, it's called unbleached titanium. So, unbleached titanium looks like a more neutral, chilled out Naples yellow. Naples yellow looks like an ivory kind of tan. some would be more of an intense nap yellow. Naples yellow. I like a chill Naples yellow. There is there should only be one kind of Naples yellow, but everyone kind of labels paints in different ways. Turquoise deep. I love this one. if I don't drop it. This one here has got that really really deep turquoisey color. a lot of punch.

To that dioxide purple, the wealthy wealthy kind of purple. So that's what the royals used to like. [clears throat] Not that exact tone, but it's similar. this one here, light pink. So that's just like a coraly pastel. >> [clears throat and cough] >> You can excuse me. There's a little bee in my throat. this one here is I love this is yellow deep. But the thing about this yellow deep is it's cadmium free. There was someone in a comment section on Facebook that was saying, "Doesn't all paint no longer have cadmium in it? Aren't they all just safe now without heavy metals? Wouldn't.

That be against the rules?" You'd think so. It's not. Unless it says cadmium free, it's probably full of cadmium. for yellows and reds. And for blues, they typically use cobalt. Now, it's not the end of the world. Here you go. Says it again. Cadmium free red medium. now make no mistake though, if you want the best of the best of the best, usually using the dangerous heavy metals is the way to go. And then here we go. Light blue permanent. [clears throat] excuse me, Jason. I've almost got that bug out of my throat. And then I've got all the paints that we had.
