22nd November - Coffee & Eggs

Today marks the day I've perfected my Tempera mix. Not because I didn't have it before but because I've tested all possible options, ingredients and ratios, I'm currently aware off, and it's perfect. It's raw and primal. Almost a direct copy of the mix of old masters with slightly less water. No vinegar - batches are made to use immediately.

My final step is finalizing pigments. Currently, I've got pigments I love. Long-term - i want traceability. Where exactly are they from and why that over something / somewhere else? This traceability builds more purposeful decision making into color selection with the hope, I can tread significance into projects through location and stories behind different ingredients.

The morning kicked off with coffee (which I burned slightly, still amazing).

Today's tempera paint used 12 eggs. While I prepared the tempera, I listened to book recaps. The leftover egg whites were made into a smoothie and brought to the studio.

I've fully prepared the surface for a project that I'd love to complete before December. Shipping gets unreliable, and I don't want to risk it. The other project lined up with be within NZ which can engulf my time in early December.

My movement really fired up in the TikTok live session. It was a wild 90 minutes of slinging paint. Starting works is always an absolute ball.

I took some private time after the session to work with some experimental pigments and paints. The farmer project from yesterday was my target. They were phenomenal—so saturated and full of 'POP.' I'm a little bit disappointed I didn't share it with everyone. That being said, a little alone time to experiment is a nice touch after such a lively session.
